WhereIsMy.House helps you share an exact house location. To set an approximate starting point, the site may request IP-based location from third-party providers on first load. We minimize server-side collection, and note/markup content stays in your browser unless you deliberately put it into a share link.
What We Store
- Essential local data: theme, language, temporary view/draft state, and an optional cookie-consent choice in browser storage.
- Share content: when you click Share, note, map markup, and selected view coordinates are encoded into the share URL itself. This is encoding for transport, not encryption.
What We Do Not Store on Our Server
- Your note content
- Your map markup shapes
- Your exact shared coordinates as account-bound records
Third-Party Services
The app uses third-party services for approximate IP location (currently ipapi.co, ipwho.is, and ipinfo.io), address search and reverse geocoding (Nominatim / OpenStreetMap), maps (for example Google Maps), and optional analytics after consent (Google Analytics). Requests sent to those providers may include data such as your IP address, query text, coordinates, and browser metadata needed to return results.
Analytics & Cookie Consent
Optional analytics are loaded only after consent where required by region settings. Shared-link pages and coordinate-only pages are excluded from analytics tracking. If you share a link, anyone with the link can access the encoded location, note, and markup payload, and the URL may also appear in browser history, chat logs, or link previews.
